Responsibilities:

·                     Conduct land surveys, make maps and prepare detailed plans and drawings for construction projects. Provide surveys and maps that are used to locate military targets and plot troop movements.

·                     Supervise and participate in construction site development to include technical investigation, surveying, drafting, development of construction plans and specifications.

·                     Assists in the performance of field and laboratory tests on construction materials, construction surveys, and drafting for military construction.

·                     Supervise technical engineering activities relating to construction surveying, drafting, and testing of construction materials.

·                     Compile technical information and supervise subordinate personnel.

21S TOPOGRAPHIC SURVEYOR

Responsibilities:

·                     Operating equipment to observe horizontal, vertical and electronic distances and differences in elevation; recording observed data; observing and recording astronomic and solar azimuth data; operating analytical photogrammetric positioning system; computing universal transverse Mercator grid information; computing geodetic information; computing instrument calibration data; operating hand held programmable calculators; observe and compile data to produce large scale plane table maps.

·                     Recording topographic survey data, operating survey equipment, performing topographic computations, constructing survey towers/stands, transporting, setting up, operating and maintaining equipment, drawing maps and charts using drafting tools such as easels, templates and compasses, making scale drawings of roads, airfields, buildings and other military projects, conducting land surveys and computing survey results, drawing diagrams for wiring and plumbing of structures, building scale models of land areas that show hills, lakes, roads and buildings, and using aerial photographs to form large photomaps.

 

·         National Defense Service Medal

Awarded for honorably serving the United States Military during a designated time period of which a “national emergency” had been declared.

·         Army Service Ribbon

A military decoration of the United States Army that was established by the Secretary of the Army. Awarded for the Successful completion of initial-entry training.

·         Army Achievement Medal

“Outstanding achievement as a Topographic Surveyor for the 231^st Survey-Design Team for the period of 30 May 2009 thru 13 June 2009. Your tireless efforts and devotion to duty significantly contributed to the successful completion of all mission requirements during annual training 2009. Your commitment and selfless service reflects great credit upon yourself, the 890^th Engineer Battalion and the Mississippi Army National Guard.” 

·         Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award)

Awarded by the Secretary Of The Army for “distinguishing himself through exceptional achievement while assigned as a Technical Engineer on a ford site reconnaissance mission. During this period SPC Baylis was instrumental in developing a complete and usable design for the ford site project given very limited time, work space, and equipment. His professionalism and dedication to the mission reflect great credit upon himself, the 231^st Survey and Design Team, the 111^th Engineer Battalion, the 1249 Engineer Battalion, and the United States Army.”

·         Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device

Awarded to any member of the Reserve or National Guard who is involuntarily          mobilized for a contingency operation under Title 10 USC or Title 14 USC,  In such cases, the medal is presented with a mobilization device for being a soldier mobilized for Operation ENDURING FREEDOM

·         Global War On Terrorism Service Medal

Awarded by President George W. Bush to recognize military service members who have performed service in the War on Terror from September 11, 2001 to a date to be determined.

·         Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon
